NEW - Prince William County Yard Waste Collection March-December On Dec. 15, 2020, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors unanimously approved changes to Chapter 22 (Refuse) of the County Code. The key change is the mandatory separation and collection of yard waste. Curbside yard waste collection is seasonal and will run March through December.
Pick up of yard waste in River View is on Tuesday.
Beginning October 2021, residents, businesses, and landscapers in Prince William County were required to separate yard waste from the regular trash for disposal. For curbside collection, yard waste must be placed in compostable paper yard waste bags or loose in a personal container labeled “Yard Waste." Labels are available at the Prince William County Landfill and the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility, however, self-made labels are also acceptable.
Yard waste will be composted at the County’s newly expanded Balls Ford Road Compost Facility instead of being buried in the County landfill.
Christmas Trees will be collected the first two full weeks of January, as a part of the yard waste collection program.
Yard waste material brought to solid waste facilities must be in yard waste paper bags, or emptied loose in a yard waste designated area.
No yard waste in plastic bags, please.
Vehicle Registration
Vehicle owners without Virginia license plates need to obtain a Virginia registration no later than Monday, September 13, 2021. After the deadline, a $100 vehicle License Plate tax and $250 penalty will be assessed on all "non-exempt" vehicle owners that continue to display out-of-state license plates in Prince William County. Residents are required to title and register their vehicle with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles within (30) days of purchase or of moving into Virginia and must register within (60) days with Prince William County’s Tax Administration office unless otherwise not required to register and display Virginia license plates due to certain exemptions such as Active duty military or short-term visitors in the county for (30) days or less. For more information or to report a vehicle, go to www.pwcva.gov/vcp or contact the Tax Administration office by email at VehicleCompliance@pwcgov.org or by phone at 703-792-6710.
Vehicle Break-ins There have been some vehicle break ins in the community recently. Please keep anything of value out of sight and lock the vehicle doors.
